Kewarra Beach is the only one of the Cairns Northern Beaches which is protected from the prevailing South East winds by a promontory called Taylors Point. The bay formed by Taylors Point is Cook Bay (see the map on the right above).
Unlike the other beaches which are exposed to the winds for most of the year, Kewarra Beach remains relatively calm and protected and  has nowhere near the volume of people on it as the other beaches because it is a residential area only, with magnificent homes  and a beautiful public walking track approximately 50 metres wide separating the houses from the beach.
On the other hand, both Trinity and Palm Cove beaches have large blocks of  Resort style accommodation, Resort Hotels, and shops built all along the road fronting the beach which result in a lot of traffic noise at night and the inevitable lack of privacy that these type of developments create, and Holloways Beach is unfortunately right in the flight path of the Cairns International and Domestic Airport which operates 24 hours a day.
